Hi sperm fanatics,
Did you know that 250,000,000 sperm cells are launched from your ballbag every time you burst your bollocks? We all know that only one little sperm makes it to the egg, but that is out of the quarter of a billion that are catapulted from our loins. But what happens to the others in this great sperm race? What has the winner faced en route to the finishing line?
I previously blogged on this topic when National Geographic produced this quite brilliant documentary about our superb semen splats. They’ve made a superb high-tech and dramatic flick using human beings as sperms to portray the toughest race ever – the race to the egg.
A quarter of a billion sperm flood into the vagina
It’s a race to the greatest prize in the human body – the egg
Valiant sperms must claw their way up to the cervix to escape certain death
The female immune system massacres millions of poor sperms
Watch as our heroic sperms are thrown into the cauldron of the female vagina! They must race against each other, survive the mass murder of the female’s defense systems, and battle their way through the labyrinth to the egg. On the way, millions of brave sperms must die! Cheer them on as just two or three survivors get the majestic egg in their sights and make a dash for the finishing line!

The great sperm race is a fascinating educational documentary that will give you a new perspective on sperm and our own beginnings. One of the best and most original documentaries of recent times.
