England crashed out of the world cup last night in the worst possible fashion. 4-1. Four bloody one. How the hell did we lose so badly? Apparently its our worst world cup defeat ever, and it felt like it. We were simply pissed on by the Germans who were bright, lively, dangerous, and who bypassed our midfield and defence with slick and incisive football. How much it hurts to write those words! Before the game it was all about not getting beaten on penalties (again) but we needn’t have worried. The German team tore us to shreds at the back, which was a total shambles.

I am not sure why Capello stuck with Rooney throughout this tournament. He has been pants all the way through and should have been subbed early on, or not even on the team sheet to start with. It was worth bringing on Joe Cole, though he did nothing, but why the hell would you bring on Heskey?! To beat the defenders up so hopefully the ball falls to Rooney? I like Heskey as a person. I remember giving him some shit when I watched him play for Liverpool once and we asked him to give us a wave, and he did – a rather shy one! But last night he was hardly the solution when we were trailing and in the need of 3 goals. Even when he was being picked for Villa I can’t remember him scoring hat tricks or galvanising a team to do so. Maybe Crouch would have been a better pick and he could have played with his Spurs team mate Defoe. Anything but an off colour Rooney and an aging Heskey.

The real problem though was at the back. We were horseshit back there. Terry played centre right rather than centre left as he does at Chelsea and was caught out of position on just about all of the goals. Upson might have scored our goal but he was awful in defence, losing the ball for Germany’s opener and looking utterly lost in the rampant German attacks. I don’t blame James, even if he could have perhaps got a hand to maybe one or two of the goals that went in. He was totally exposed last night and had little chance against a ruthless German attack.

Lampard’s disallowed goal of course was an outrage, a ridiclous decision! The whole stadium saw it! Everyone bloody saw it! A blind slow worm sleeping in my back garden saw it! But not apprently the arsehead linesman (who was diabolical) and the referee. How could they possibly miss that? One thing’s for certain – they should never be allowed to officiate art such a high profile match ever again. They simply weren’t up to the job. Had that goal gone in I am sure it would have been a different story. England were on top and playing well and I think that the Germans would have been rocked by it. We could well have had the momentum to have gone ahead and win the game as we were totally bossing the game. We certainly wouldn’t have been so committed to attack and left the back door open for the two killer second half goals. The thing is though, our defence was shite and you could say that the Germans knew exactly how to exploit it tactically so it would most likely have been academic. Either way I doubt if we would have got past Argentina and gone on to win the world cup with such a defence.

So we are out then!! England go home and have much soul searching to do. I do rate Capello but he got it badly wrong in this tournament. We have plenty of older players who must be discarded now so we can blood new youth. The time has come to tear up the team sheet and start again.

I’m backing bukkake blasters Japan in their quest for a quarter final place. They have a tough game against a skillful Paraguay that should prove a bridge too far for them – but so far every game they should not have won they have managed to do so! They played impressively against a good Danish side, emerging triumphant at 3-1. Lets hope they give us something to cheer about.

Extremely pissed off
